Jim Grips origins can be traced back to Father's Day circa June 2017 when Jim received a Ridge Wallet for Father's Day.  Inspired by the minimalist design, the wallet was soon being carried by others in the household, including by his daughter, Rachel.

Already working for a small printing company, Rachel created a skin for her dad's Ridge, dawning a photo of herself as a joke.  However, the idea soon caught on and Rachel created a few extra skins for her dad's wallet and hers as well.

Jim Grips was brought to life through an Internship-Project completed for college credits during the covid-19 pandemic when all internships had to be completed remotely.

Through product development, setting up a website, creating designs, and all other aspects of starting a business - Jim Grips was started.
